'Tru' blue Herald.com | 04/21/2005 | 'Tru' blue: "As if Tru Calling fans haven't suffered enough at the hands of Fox, the network has decided to pull the serial thriller starring Eliza Dushku off the air after tonight's episode, reports TV Guide Online -- effectively cheating them out of seeing the show's sixth and final original installment. Fox is replacing next week's Tru finale with The Simple Life: Interns. There's a joke in there somewhere. Meanwhile, CBS has delayed its much-talked-about Martha Stewart telepic, Martha: Behind Bars, until the fall. The movie was originally slated to air May 25. In its place, CBS will run another ripped-from-the-headlines flick, Amber Frey: Witness for the Prosecution." Friday, April 08, 2005
It doesn't take a psychic to feel draw of Fox's intriguing 'Tru Calling', starring Eliza Dushku News-Leader.com | Entertainment | TV Best Bets: It doesn't take a psychic to feel draw of Fox's intriguing 'Tru Calling': "t's good to see this intriguing fantasy back on the schedule, even when it doesn't have one of its better episodes. 'Tru Calling' centers on Tru (Eliza Dushku), a morgue worker and med student with a sense: The newly deceased ask for her help; then she bounces to the previous morning and tries to save them. By now, a few people know about this. One is the mysterious Jack (Jason Priestley), who may be helping or hindering her. Tonight, there's a new problem: Tru hears a voice, but doesn't know where it's from; she's not sure whom to save." Wednesday, April 06, 2005
Tru Calling, starring Eliza Dushku, and Current Events Blogcritics.org: TV Thoughts: Tru Calling and Current Events: "The basic idea behind the series was that Tru Davies, played the lovely Eliza Dushku, would have days 'rewind' in order for her to save someone who had died. She is a would be medical student who works the night shift at the morgue, sometimes a body would come in and it would talk to her, generally something simple like 'Help me!' At this point the day would restart with her retaining all the memories she had acquired in the day that never was which she would use to prevent the results from repeating. There was never any explanation of where the ability came from, but soon enough she enlisted her boss at the morgue, Davis, and her brother Harry. She also discovered that her mother who had died mysteriously years before had the ability as well. Enter Jason Priestly as Jack, at first he was just a strange co-worker, then he started to appear to have the same information as Tru, and the people she was trying to save were still dying. It turns out that Jack was the opposite of Tru, where Tru sees people to save, Jack sees fate to be preserved. You see, some people are meant to die, and it is not up to Tru to, essentially, play God. This sets up a battle between the two with peoples lives in the balance. The first season ended with the revelation that Tru's father was in the same position as Jack, playing the opposite of his wife. Now we're getting somewhere." Wednesday, March 30, 2005
Fox finds its 'Tru Calling', starring Eliza Dushku Nashville City Paper: "From its earliest beginnings last season, the show Tru Calling faced a tough battle. Now as the networks mark time till the climatic fall sweeps, Tru Calling finally gets its second season debut beginning Thursday. Originally it was a high concept program airing in a period dominated by procedural cop shows and intellectually meager unscripted fare, and it didn't prove much of a fit for its lead-in The O.C.. Still Fox announced its return, but then pulled the plug on the show twice. First they tried the lackluster soap opera North Shore in that time slot, then auditioned an even more risky show, the supernatural thriller Point Pleasant. Neither managed to do attract even as many viewers as Tru Calling, which was being savaged in ratings by CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Tru Calling will air in a special two-hour edition Thursday, then comes back for four final episodes in the regular 8 p.m. timeframe before presumably disappearing forever - or at least onto DVD. Dushku to appear on That 70's Show Zap2it - TV tv gal - TV Gal Hails the TV Troupers: "That '70s Show (Wednesday, FOX, 8 p.m.): For seven seasons, the series has excelled at being a broad comedy full of silly pratfalls, slightly naughty jokes, and delightful performances. I've long contended that Topher Grace is the most underrated actor in prime time. But the entire cast knows his or her role so well that they can make the most out of the lamest joke and brings a layer of depth to their seemingly one dimensional characters. This week Eliza Dushku (of the suddenly gone 'Tru Calling') guest stars and the show will be back next season with the promise of limited involvement from Ashton Kutcher and Grace. Somehow I don't ever want the 80s to come." Friday, February 04, 2005
Dushku's "Tru Calling" definately canceled Inside Bay Area - Bay Area Living "So for Gary Rovasio and other readers wondering whatever happened to the Fox supernatural drama "Tru Calling," we've got the answer: Canceled. Six episodes are left of the series starring Eliza Dushku as a woman who speaks to dead people. Fox says the remaining episodes will air sometime this year, but no dates have been set. But in the world of television, no good - or bad - idea ever goes out of fashion. NBC has a new series, "Medium," airing at 10 p.m. Monday on Channel 11 centering on a woman (Patricia Arquette) who talks to dead people and solves crimes with their input. It's based on a real-life medium who works in Arizona. Ratings are soaring, and NBC has already announced a second season for the series." Wednesday, January 26, 2005
Dushku to guest-star on That 70's Show the futon critic - the web's best primetime television resource "Eliza Dushku guest-stars on the "It's All Over Now" episode of THAT '70s SHOW Wednesday, Feb. 16 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT). Donna cannot stand the fact that the hot new radio intern, Sara (guest star Dushku), is given the work nickname "Sizzling Sara" after only one week. Donna is assigned to do a radio remote from a Tom Jones appearance at Grooves, but protests when her boss asks her to wear a bikini for a billboard - and is promptly fired and replaced by Sara. Eric, who has been studying George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words," has an idea for revenge. Meanwhile, a flu-stricken Kitty begs Red to get Tom Jones' autograph for her. One look at the unending line of autograph-seekers, and Red decides to forge Tom Jones' signature, which would have been a flawless plan had Tom Jones actually shown up for the appearance." |
